Just got my car done.

I bought an 89' mustang and after a month or so decided that it was not fast enough.. So i did some work to it. Got an aftermarket upper and lower intake manifold installed, Roller rockers that give a tad more valve lift, bigger throttle body, electric fan instead of a clutch fan. new radiator, removed the smog pump and put on a billet aluminium alternator bracket that deletes the belt tensioner and old smog/alt huge steel bracket. just got it done tonight after work. I didnt want to wake the neighbors and start it so i am anxious to get out this afternoon and fire it up. I'm hoping to get around 50 HP at the flywheel with all these mods. With some weight reduction it will weigh about 3000 pounds without me in it. I need to find someone with a timing light so i can advance the timing a couple degrees.. Anyone else like to work on cars/go fast?

Use a vacuum gauge to time it works much better. My car has 477 horsepower at the rear wheels naturally aspirated.

That's a lot of motor. what kind of car is it? I have never heard of timing with a vacuum gauge, ill have to look that up. I went out to start it and i'm not getting spark.. have to chase down what I forgot to plug back in... lol

Yup i gotta get the old bimmer out of the garage. I have a 1993 BMW 740i.
It's got an all aluminum 4 litre V8 with 32 valves and about 300 hp.
The 5 speed aluminum ZF560 transmission has a short 1st gear and i believe a 1500rpm stall all stock!
It's a tank though at 4000 lbs dry...

i'm a bimmer fan. They have made some good cars and motors over the years. I wouldn't mind owning an E32 M5.

Personally i love them, the ride in my car makes most new cars feel cheap! lol

damn. I bet that is a fun car. My rustang has 2.73s in it lol. What kind of pupercharger are you getting for it? Dyno tuners are few and far between around here. i'm going to need a tune after i get some heads.

Got it to fire up today. Backfiring bad. Timing needs set i think

Set timing to 10* BTDC. still backfiring. I had to leave for work though. I think the firing order might be wrong.

had the firing order off. number 4 and 5 cylinder spark plug wires where mixed up.. runs like a top now lol

glad to c we have some motor heads in the clan..i've been workin on and off with a 81 cutlass ..doin body now..motor next..got 350 chev to put in it..have all parts cept heads..itll prolly b about 275-300hp..i need to get back to it!!!!

ewww.. chevy lol jk. I like all cars if they are done with good taste. Im guessing mine has about 275 ish at the flywheel. Fun motor in a car that weighs under 3200 lbs.

My VW powered self-built sand rail has a 140hp 2180cc engine

The 05 Busa ( sold it ... still crying LoL ) has 178 to the rear tire

My current motorcycle has a Chevy ZZ4 V8 engine with 385hp currently. Have a few goodies that will take it up to just over 400 in the garage and then I have a 150 shot Nitrous setup I am waiting on swingarm bottle brackets for

On the shop floor I have a 383 stroker that puts out 520hp that I am looking for something to put it in. I am really leaning towards a 70 - 73 camaro

Boss Hoss is a motorcycle manufacturer just like Harley but in MUCH lower numbers. They started in 1991 by selling basically a rolling chassis and you added the motor of your choice... as long as it was a small block chevy.

My bike is an 05 and came pre-assembled and running. No paint or rear tour pack. It is not a canyon carver but is sure a comfy ride for hours or days at a time. Right now she only has about 25,000 miles on her but since I have sold off all the other motorcycles, that is bound to go up

I really like the older simpler engines. Mostly because I don't understand all the newer technologies used to control the fuel injection and timing. I understand what they do but get lost in the software. You notice all my stuff is carbureted. not nearly as fuel efficient and I am losing horsepower but should something go wrong, i can usually fix it anywhere in a matter of minutes with easily sourced and inexpensive parts. That can't be said for the newer stuff.
I applaud and respect those of you that can modify the new stuff. Amazing horsepower is available and the click of a setting . Kudos
