Running COD 1.0 and 1.7

First you will need to locate your game folder, Path should be something like this C:\Program Files (x86)\Activision of our original Activision Folder, a "Right click" of your mouse you can copy the Activision folder in that directory(same spot) it should say "Copy of Activision" - now leave it alone for a moment -and re name the original Activision to Ativision 1 (this will now be the folder you use for 1.0) DBL click that folder and you will see the "iw3mp.exe" (this is the executable file that starts your game) do a "Right click" on that "iw3mp.exe" and drop down until you see "Create shortcut", now made - move that "Create shortcut" to your desktop - rename it "COD4 1.0"...then down load COD 1.6 and update, (this will update you original COD4) and then down load 1.6-1.7 Patch and update.

NOTE: you only need the 1.6 AND 1.7 to update an original install, I am running Windows 7 so your Operating system may vary, and If anybody has a better way, than feel free to input

Dual patching: In Case Ya Didn't Know. Smile

1. Locate your Activision Folder. ( Local Disk/Hard Drive > Program Files > Activision
~~~~~~ EX. C:/Program Files/Activision (C:/ is the most common Hard Drive)

2. Right Click on your 'Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare' Folder and click COPY.
- Return to your desktop and hit either Control+V / Or You can Right click your desktop and click paste.


*WARNING* DO NOT MOVE IT. MAKE SURE IT IS COPYING THE ORIGINAL FOLDER. DO NOT CLOSE YOUR ACTIVISION FOLDER.


3. While this is loading to your Desktop, Download the following Links, Save them anywhere.
~ http://www.gamershell.com/download_27186.shtml (Click the link with the highest percentage)
~ http://www.gamershell.com/download_28304.shtml (Click the link with the highest percentage)

Click on "Show other download options"!!

Click the line (when it appears) that says "Your download is ready. Please click here to download the file."


*WARNING* DO NOT OPEN THESE UNTIL THE DIRECTIONS SAY TO. JUST DOWNLOAD THEM THEN LEAVE THEM.


4. Return to your Desktop. When the folder is done pasting, Right click on it and click on RENAME. Rename it to 'Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare 1.7', or to whatever you would prefer.


5. Drag your 'Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare 1.7' Folder back into your Activision Folder so that it contains 'Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare 1.7' and 'Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare'.


*WARNING* DRAG IT INTO YOUR ACTIVISION FOLDER SO THAT IT MOVES, NOT COPY AND PASTE.


6. When your Folder is done moving, and when your 1.6 and 1.7 downloads from http://www.gamershell.com are done downloading, you are free to proceed with the next step.


7. Open your 1.6 patch that you have downloaded. Click through the patch until you see a button that says "BROWSE". Click Browse and search for your 'Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare 1.7' in your Activision Folder. Click 'OK' and continue will the patch.


8. When that download FINISHES, Then you are ready to download the 1.6 - 1.7 Patch. Repeat the same steps in Step 7.

My 1.7 works and my 1.0 works, however, my 1.0 i lost all my rank?? ANy suggestions?

   

copy your 1.7 profile (see below for string) over to your 1.0 - copy the whole "Profiles" folder to your 1.0 same folder and YES to overwrite files

C:\Program Files (x86)\Activision\Call of Duty 4 - Modern Warfare\players\profiles

I DONT HAVE THOSE FOLDERS IN EITHER LOL
