Kick and Temp ban from FFA server

Hi SC! I am *|EFU|* 50kBTU.

I am a big fan of your servers. I think everyone knows me for all the years I've been playing with all of you. I want to state that I am from Puerto Rico and my first language is Spanish. What I mean is that I will try to write correctly, but if I make some grammatical or syntax error, please, pardon me. I also hope that I don't sound harsh or offensive because of my language handicap. If I do, please, accept my apology. Also, if I write some word in caps, it means that word have emphasis, not screaming like some kids think. I am 43 years old, married, and a grandpa already. I have been playing CoD4 since it was released on november 2007, so I know a thing or two about the game. I use a custom profile, with only some text binds for dumb comments like "50,000 BTU's of power" or "EFU HAX ON" in different colors. It has nothing fancy, except the hold breath when aiming down the sights when using sniper rifle. I use a gaming mouse with very high DPI and some of my movements are very, VERY quick, like a very fast 180 to kill someone behind me when I see the red stains in the lower section of my screen when I am getting shot in the back.

I was an admin/manager of the extinct *|EFU|* clan so I know a thing or two about administration of game servers. My first experience as an administrator of a server was in 1996, where I was an operator of a chat channel back in the IRC days, so I have extensive experience in administration of servers with many different people, from many countries.

I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable or mad at me because of what I am about to write. And I don't really know why I am posting because it isn't THAT important, but a member told me to post about this situation if I felt it was unnecessary.

I was playing, like always, in the soft-core FFA server. I was kicking some tails and one player asked me how could I reload so fast, like I was reloading then shot him without really reloading. I thought he was like saying "are you hacking?" but I took it like a joke and I said: I HAX! in a sarcastic way. I always say that because most of you know me and understand I have good moves but some newbies think I do hack. Please!

sc.Terminator was there and told us to shut up and stop the comments or we were going to get kicked off the server. That was really strange because no one was saying anything offensive or profane... just normal "dumb and funny" comments. I said something to the player and the admin said "that goes for you too". That REALLY was strange for me. I asked why we had to shut up if we like to chat when playing, or something like that, I can't remember. He told me to stop the comments and I, joking, said "no" because they were really dumb comments. I asked why I was gonna get kicked because I didn't actually understand the "why?".

Of course, I was kicked. I connected again and asked him "why?". He said I was inciting others to misbehave and I had to shut up. That made no sense to me. I LIKE to PLAY and COMMENT the game: ns, n1, you are good, use SMG and do this or that, or hmmm, which is short for: I am gonna get you... you... you... See? a joke/dumb comment without importance.

I said "I still can win this" and began playing again kicking some tails AGAIN. The same player asked me again something and I said: I cant tell you or I am going to get kick again and I already got kicked because of YOU. And violá, I was kicked and temp ban. Oh well... I know is a temp ban. I now it was something without importance, but, COME ON!

I will not be disrespectful to the admin saying, like other threads here in the forum, that he doesn't know how to do his admin work, but COME ON! I think he was excessive in the use of his power. I urge the administration to check the chat logs, if you keep them, to try to learn from this situation for the future. If I did or said something wrong I APOLOGIZE because I didn't mean to make him uncomfortable, but I don't think so.

i start off sayin that term is a great admin and he been around forever and a great player, but allso 50kbtu he has been playing this game forever to and a great player so im not real sure what happen. maybe term and 50kbtu can talk it out. i was on the server when they where playing kinda here and there and there was other players talking on there to 50kbtu and he would answer them in a jokeing way maybe term thought he was talking to him think he was just being a smartass not sure. i really think it was a misunderstanding.

I have never seen that before.

My GUID is not banned. I can play in any PB enabled server. Well, I am supposed to play in any. I have never had problems before with PB. Check my GUID.

On the other hand, my son has the game too and we run from the same IP because we have a network in our house... but he is the one that taught me how to play and he was better than me. I have two game keys. If I give you our keys can you check if that's his because I know I am not banned?

Unless he uses the same name as you it is showing your character , ip and namesake when I checked into it. ...

I got my GUID from my game a couple of minutes ago. Check this with your logs.

Darn... unless it is my son. We have the same IP since we are running from the same cable modem and I think the ban service might identify my name as the culprit. I am registered everywhere as 50kBTU. I am the only in the world because it is a name I made up because. If he did something fishy, it will recognize my IP but my GUID is different.

Ok, we have two CD keys: his and mine. I can provide them both in a PM if you need them. We do not share games since 2003 or 2004. Since then I buy individual games for us (he was 10-11).

I have alot of evidence in front of me and several people suspecting you were cheating. I do know first hand how it is to have a son get an IP banned; for mine did the same to me a few years back on some servers when he was accused of cheating.

Bottom line, if you are using cheats please do not do so on our servers. I am going to give you the benefit of the doubt in this case and I hope this is an isolated incident for if we have to go down this road again in the future I will be forced to issue a perm ban.

That GUID was banned from back in 2009 back when the Mombot was big in CoD4. Any server that is streaming PBBans you are banned from playing on with that GUID. If i had the access i could do a deeper search and tell you if its you right off the bat, but i am 99.9% it is either you or your "son".. but you have a background as a Fraud Investigator so i shouldn't have to explain. I have a military, private security and corrections background. As well as being a ex Anti Cheat Admin and Director of Operations from a Gaming League from back in the day. I will support CroW with his final call.

I do not cheat. What can I do to let you be sure I don't? I could try to record some of my games with a capturing program to let you see my real moves. I have tried Xfire capturing but videos are huge and they are recorded in a bad format.

Now, maybe some people say I cheat because I am fast and have better ping than most of the players that go to the FFA server. I have seen many with 150+/200+ms pings when I have 80+ms. That's a huge advantage over them.

I also use a gaming mouse that I am able to click very fast without real effort, making single fire weapons like G3 and M14 go in burst of 2 or 3.

You know? I feel embarrassed to see that ban with my name. It is frustrating because I know I am legit and I am pretty good.

Also, so you know:
The last week, I haven't been always using 50kBTU because when I win a match many players leaves. I have been using SparkPlugWire and Synchronicity because I can win and people stay to play more.

On our servers the ping dont make a difference since we run anti lag which levels the playing field unless you have 350+ or less than 30.

I have never understood that anti lag thing because many players just jump and teleport from one place to another...

ANTI-LAG Definition and Explanation:

Its a latency-based system which uses algorithms to adjust hit registrations according to a mean average between 2 players whose latency (ping) is plus/minus 50 difference between them. It will delay the registration for faster connections, and speed it up for the slower one.

In practice, in speeding up the registration, this sometimes appears like you've been hit before the player has even taken a shot. But that is only an illusion created by the algorithm used.

Between players whose latency (ping) is not greater than a certain mean average between them, no noticeable delay or speeding up is made.

In other words, it gives slower ping players a fighting chance against players with a much faster ping. But between players whose ping is roughly the same, no such adjustments are made.

If server admins want to reduce the amount of compensation used when anti-lag is enabled (and, it has to be said, many game industry insiders insist that anti-lag is by far and away the "fairer" system), make sure you exclude players with a ping greater than 50/60 the average player ping on your server.

First of all thanks to all of you for responding to this issue. This really helps make scare-clan a better server and community of gamers which is why we have been successful for the last 3 years because y'all care and we work on the problems at hand fairly. The decision that Crow made to let 50k to keep playing on our servers is more than fair and I back that 100 percent. Txgrunt thanks for helping us do our homework and helping the way you have been. 50k you might want to talk to your son and see whats going on so this don't happen again. If my son hurt my gaming reputation; or in real life I would want to get to the bottom of the story find out why.

Just a question, did you get your pb_myguid from the cod4 menu or did you do it while in-game?


Please make sure it is the in-game one if so.

CroW: Now I understand. In our servers there were no anti-lag settings, or I never knew they were on. I never configured them actually.

I wrote down the GUID number in a paper and then moved to my laptop to write the post because my wife was using my gaming PC and she can kick my tail if I don't give it back.

Thumper: I talked to him about this. He swears it wasn't him. He gave me a lame excuse: "I didn't install that because that might have had viruses and you told me to be careful" but his shoulders and eyes said differently. My wife and I think he did. We can't believe what our kids say 100% of the times because we are not with them 24 hours a day.

When I was a kid, we were 3 persons living in our house: mom, my older sister and myself. My sister used to eat all the slices of ham over the night. The next morning my mom asked her if she was the one that ate the ham and she always said NO. Because of that, I took a lot of beatings because I said it wasn't me. Never give your cd keys to anyone...food for thought

I have never offered to give my keys to anyone but I will do anything to clear this out, and since you are investigating this, I HAVE to trust you. And you already have game keys, right? I don't think any of you 3 is going to use our keys to do more harm.

Anyway, I know my GUID is not banned. I haven't checked my son's... I will check that and post it here too.

Why not sign up on the PBBans.com site and appeal the ban with them.. Cause it does appear that yes that GUID was either yours or your "Son".
