Well, tannerite is basically half of ANFO. (Ammonium nitrate/fuel oil) The white granules are ammonium nitrate, the grayish powder is ground up aluminum. shoot it with something that generates enough kenetic energy, and it goes boom. But, I'm wondering if the explosion generates heat. i.e......will it ignite gasoline? Will one container set off another? etc..........
ANFO is a whole other critter. We used to make it to blow out tree stumps and old bridge embankments after they outlawed the sale of dynamite to the public.(My grandpa was a road commisioner and we helped him on the weekends.) ANFO, if mixed right, is a pretty stable low ignition/high energy explosive. Where C4 is high ignition/low energy. (Think 12 pound sledge vs 18 ounce ball peen...outcome is the same, but one is more precise.) BUT, if ANFO is mix to the wrong measurments, it will self detonate...and that is bad for a lot of reasons.....
But I think I've gotten a bit off topic......
