cod4 version question

Hey guys,Got a quick ? for you all
When i install cod4 i find the number on my main menu screen....1.0.525..my version i believe
I have an older friend (not very comp literate) that is just starting to play cod4 ..He has installed cod4 and tells
me his version is....1.6.565...told him he had to have downloaded an update to change version...do all cod4 disks install 1.0.525?
just lookin for a little info before i drive a hour to his place to try n get him on our version

If he has the Game of the Year disc then he will have CoD4 version 1.6 as the older disc comes with patch 1.0. There are a few option but I will mention only two. One, use a patch changer (I don't have any links sorry) 2. Uninstall and Reinstall using the old disc that will install the older version of CoD4.
